Another Front Page!

I received a call from my brother first thing Monday morning letting me know I was on the front page of Etsy. What a great way to start the week or end the month. Whichever way you want to look at it, I'll take it. Thank you to 3dots for making the fabulous treasury that brought me to the front page. Wow! Two front pages in one month after months and month of nothing.

Earrings

I have noticed that over half of what I sell in my Etsy shop is earrings and yet I'm not making a lot of earrings. In my shop I have over three times as many necklaces as earrings. Why am I not making more earrings? Is it because I don't usually wear earrings myself or is it that I only like to make one of something? I only started making earrings after a customer requested that I make a pair similar to a pendant I made.
It's time to start making more earrings. For every pendant I make I will force myself to make two pairs of earrings. I say 'force,' but it's not like I won't enjoy making them, I just don't naturally gravitate towards making them. This past week I did manage to make several pairs of earrings so that's a start.

Front Page!!!

My Emerald City earrings made it to the front page of Etsy yesterday. I have only made it to the front page maybe three other times, so when it happens it's pretty exciting. I know there are some artists who end up on the front page on almost a daily basis, I'm not so lucky. Hopefully I'll be able to maintain some momentum after this exposure. It's amazing the amount of hits and hearts my site received during that period, probably over a months worth in the course of an hour. Thank you to humblebea for making the treasury that got me to the front page.

Tulips

I went to the Skagit Valley Tulip Festival a couple weeks ago in La Connor, WA. It was a little cold and windy, but thankfully no rain. The tulips were beautiful; it is amazing to see the fields painted in color. I think I took over 200 pictures of tulips. Here are a few of my favorites.

Vampire Weekend

I came across this video for "Giving Up the Gun" today and thought I would share. It's a great video for a great song with a Jake Gyllenhaal cameo. What could be better? I have been listening to Vampire Weekend's new album Contra almost constantly for the past couple weeks while working on my jewelry, it keeps me going. Enjoy.

Rings II

So my experimentation with making rings and incorporating resin worked out fairly well. I'm pleased with the results that I came up with. I was concerned that the domed rings with the holes in them might be a problem, but they came out just as I hoped they would. This won't be the last of my ring making, I have more ideas to try. I will definitely be stocking my shop with rings. Keep and eye out for them.

Rings

I've been wanting to make some rings for awhile now. Recently I've had some ideas for rings and how I could incorporate my resin work into it. The next step will be to pour the resin and hope for success.

Happy Birthday to my Shop's Namesake!

Her name is Lily Zoe... but I like to think of her as Lolly Jo.
My niece Lily turned 3 yesterday! When Lily was born my sister, Amy called me from the hospital to tell me she had arrived. I must admit I was slightly confused when I got the call because I had just talked to her the night before and everything was fine and the baby wasn't due for another two weeks. So when my sister, in her completely exhausted state, was trying to tell me her name, I heard "Lolly Jo" not "Lily Zoe".
That is where the name "Lolly Jo" came from. So when trying to decide on a name for my shop I chose to name it after my adorable niece.
Happy Birthday Lily!!! Love you.

The Lesser of Two Evils

I really hate this Gator Skin stuff. It gets in the way. But if I don't use it I'm left with bloody finger tips. Sometimes I choose the bloody finger tips.
